City Hall Park Activation

City Hall Seattle picture from Seattle Parks and Recreation

City Hall Park opened in 1911 and is located immediately south of the King County Courthouse. Measuring 1.3 acres in size, it is the largest green space in Pioneer Square and the second largest (after Freeway Park) in Seattle’s greater downtown area.

In August 2021, the City of Seattle closed City Hall Park to advance a variety of site enhancement and remediation projects, and to develop a Park Activation Plan. An improved City Hall Park reopened for public use in June 2023.To encourage ongoing community use of the space, the City is investing $300,000 in 2023 and 2024 to bring a range of free community events to City Hall Park.
